You’ll learn everything from why Italians would never order coffee with milk it in after 11am, to why you’ll see so many locals standing at the bar to enjoy their espresso instead of sitting down or taking it to-go. Now that you’ve had some caffeine, it’s time to dive headfirst into your food marathon!
Strolling the charming streets of Florence, we’ll make stops to taste Italian staples like olive oil, cheese, and cured meats, as well as some Tuscan specialities like cantuccini with vin santo, and even a truffle sandwich! We pay a visit to Florence’s oldest market, San Lorenzo Market, where your guide will take you to numerous kiosks to sample some local flavors. At each stop your guide will make sure there is plenty to go around, all while filling you in on fascinating stories about Italian food, cooking, and local history. We’ll relax at a local wine shop where you’ll enjoy Tuscan wines with a professional sommelier.
Your tour concludes with a dessert that needs little introduction: gelato! World-renowned, this silky smooth sweet treat is creamier and packs a more flavorful punch than typical ice cream. You’ll find gelaterias on every corner during your time here, so to make sure you are enjoying the best Italy has to offer, your guide will share insider tips and tricks on how to spot the freshest artisanal gelato from the mass-produced.
Don’t leave Florence without enjoying the iconic flavors of this region, and enjoy unparalleled attention and knowledge from a local by going with a private tour with us.
