Private From Berlin: Gardens & Palaces of Potsdam with Lunch Stop
Potsdam is a perfect sunny-day activity as it offers bike paths, beautiful gardens, stunning palaces, and a rich history. We have crafted an itinerary that takes you by the most magnificent Prussian and Cold War landmarks that are hard to spot on your own. As we cycle, you will come to understand the power and influence that the Hohenzollern dynasty wielded as it’s made evident through their picturesque gardens, parks, and palaces. Come ready to learn and be in awe!
Our private tours offer you exceptional service and a truly unique experience during your visit.
Your full-day private tour begins at our shop in Alexanderplatz, where we will board the train together for the half-hour trip to Potsdam. Along the way, your guide will give you a brief history of Potsdam so that you can step off of the train with a good backdrop to better understand the history and sites throughout the day. We will then pick up our bikes and head into the beautiful city center of Potsdam, left mostly intact even after the Second World War.
This tour includes stops at Sanssouci Palace, (Frederick the Great’s favorite residence) the New Palace, and Cecilienhof Palace, where the Allied Leaders met for the Potsdam Conference following the conclusion of World War II in Europe. We will also visit the “Bridge of Spies,” or the Glienicke Brücke, site of key spy exchanges between the East and the West throughout the Cold War.
About mid-way through the tour, we will enjoy a lunch break in the historic Dutch Quarter of town (cost not included), allowing you time to explore on your own or with your guide. A personal guide provides even more time for questions throughout the day, be they about Potsdam and its history or how to maximize your stay in Berlin.
You can choose to stay on in Potsdam after the cycling portion of the tour is over, or you can ride back into Berlin on the train with your guide. We will end at Alexanderplatz, where your guide will provide you with his or her favorite addresses for must-try restaurants, great neighborhoods to visit, and quaint shops where you can find the perfect souvenir within Berlin. We want to help make your trip memorable however we can!
The added benefit of booking a Private Gardens and Palaces of Potsdam Bike Tour is the ability to move at your own pace throughout the day. With our comfortable city-cruiser style bikes and our knowledgeable and fun-loving guides, you are certain to have an unforgettable experience.
