As you may know, participation in the cycling events requires that helmets with buckled chin straps must be worn at all times. For your convenience, every one of our rentals comes with a helmet at no additional charge.

Pick-Up and Drop - off Convenience

When booking a bicycle with Unlimited Biking, We offer you the option to pick-up and drop off at the Tri-State Trek Base Camp for your convenience.

Pedal Installment and Seat Adjustments

Our bikes come equipped with standard flat pedals to meet the needs of most riders. If you prefer your own pedals, we're happy to install them for you—just remember to bring them along when you pick up your bike.

Our on-site team is also available to assist with seat adjustments, ensuring your bike is comfortable and ready for the ride!

The Tri-State Trek, is a dynamic weekend biking event dedicated to advancing ALS research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI). Get ready for an extraordinary experience, with picturesque routes weaving through the stunning landscapes of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Your participation ensures more than just a memorable journey — it’s a vital step towards discovering treatments to end ALS.

The Tri-State Trek is a fully supported two-day cycling event that stretches through Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. It’s designed to offer cyclists an unforgettable weekend of athleticism, camaraderie, and dedication to ending ALS.

ALS is not incurable, it’s underfunded. This is why we ride.

When you register for the Tri-State Trek, you commit to fundraising for our mission AND riding your bike. There are many flexible participation options for beginner cyclists, experienced athletes, and incredible volunteers.

The Tri-State Trek unites participants in the fight to end ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Through the Trek we fundraise, connect with our Trek Family, celebrate life, remember those we’ve lost, and advance research to find treatments and cures for ALS.

Bike Rental information:

All bikes must be booked in advance, simply click on the link below to reserve your bike.

Here are the bike rental pickup options for this ride:

Friday Pickup: All rental customers must pick up their bikes on Friday during the Friday Welcome Celebration at the University of New Hampshire, located at Tri-State Trek Base Camp, 5 DeMeritt Circle, Durham, NH 03824, between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
Drop Off: Please drop off your bike on Sunday at the Finish Line back at Tri-State Trek Base Camp, 5 DeMeritt Circle, Durham, NH 03824 after the ride.

When renting your bike, you will only have the option to rent it for Saturday on the system but rest assured that your rental is from Friday- Sunday as detailed in the two bullet points above.

During bike rental pickup, we are happy to assist with height adjustments, pedal installation on road bikes if needed, and provide you with a free helmet.

Note for Road Bikes Rentals: All our road bikes come with standard flat pedals. If you prefer specific pedals compatible with your cycling shoes, please bring them with you, and we can install them on your rental bike.

Hybrid Bikes: Comes with one water bottle cage, a handlebar bag, a quick-release adjustable seatpost, and flat pedals.
Road Bikes & Carbon Bikes: Comes with two water bottle cages, a handlebar bag, and standard flat pedals.
eBikes: Comes with handlebar bag, a quick-release adjustable seatpost, and flat pedals and a fully charged battery.
Tandem Bike: Comes with two water bottle cages, one for each rider, a handlebar bag, and standard flat pedals.

What is a Hybrid bike?

A Hybrid bike combines features of road bikes, touring bikes, and mountain bikes, making it versatile and suitable for a variety of terrains. Hybrid bikes are designed for general-purpose riding over various surfaces, offering a balance of comfort and performance. They typically have medium-width tires for better grip and stability, an upright riding position for comfort, and a lightweight frame for ease of handling. Hybrid bikes are an excellent choice for casual rides, commuting, and recreational cycling.

How do I select the right bike type for me?

We offer a variety of bike types to suit different riding styles, routes and preferences. Here’s a quick guide:
- Hybrid Step-through Bike: Designed for comfort and leisure, this bike features a step-through frame for easy mounting, an upright riding position, and 2″ wide tires. Ideal for short, relaxed rides.
- Hybrid Straight Frame Bike: Balancing comfort and performance, this bike has a traditional top bar frame and road tires. It’s lighter than the step-through model, making it well-suited for most event routes.
- CAAD Aluminum Road Bike: A performance-focused bike made of aluminum frame and has rim brakes. Perfect for longer or faster rides, especially distances of 50 miles or more. It’s ideal for riders with specific pedal preferences.
- Carbon Synapse Road Bike: Our top-performing model with a carbon frame, offering unparalleled speed, responsiveness, and ride quality. It comes with disc brakes and It’s the lightest bike we offer. Perfect for those seeking maximum performance.

What is the right bike size for me?

Bike sizes depend on the model. When booking, you’ll see size options listed along with the corresponding height ranges to help you select the right fit.

What if I need a helmet but didn’t request one?

Helmets are included at no extra cost. As helmets are mandatory for the event, we ensure there are plenty available for all riders.

What can I fit into the bike bag?

The handlebar bike bag can hold small items such as a water bottle, a set of keys, a phone, and a tube kit. Dimensions are approximately 9 inches wide by 5 inches in diameter, with a zip closure.

Do you provide spare tubes in case I get a flat?

We do not provide spare tubes with rentals. If you experience a flat tire during the ride, we recommend reaching out to the event’s ride support team for assistance. It’s always a good idea to carry a spare tube that fits your bike, as we strongly recommend being prepared for such situations.

What is the Cancellation Policy for Bike Rentals at this Event?

Bike Event Rental Cancellation Policy

Canceling a booking with Unlimited Biking can result in cancellation fees being applied by Unlimited Biking, as outlined below. When canceling any booking you MUST ONLY email to [email protected] to request the cancellation with your reservation details.

100% refund until 90 days before the event
50% refund until 60 days before the event
0% refund 30 days before the event

Official Event Cancellation: If the event is canceled by the organizers for any reason, you may request a 50% refund or a 100% credit back to your account. This option is available at any time leading up to the event and does not change the 100% refund policy available for those who cancel 90 days in advance.

You always have the option to use your credit with us in stores or towards next year’s rental.
