As you may know, participation in the cycling events requires that helmets with buckled chin straps must be worn at all times. For your convenience, every one of our rentals comes with a helmet at no additional charge.

Pick-Up and Drop - off Convenience

When booking a bicycle with Unlimited Biking, We offer you the option to pick-up and drop off at the Tri-State Trek Base Camp for your convenience.

Pedal Installment and Seat Adjustments

Our bikes come equipped with standard flat pedals to meet the needs of most riders. If you prefer your own pedals, we're happy to install them for you—just remember to bring them along when you pick up your bike.

Our on-site team is also available to assist with seat adjustments, ensuring your bike is comfortable and ready for the ride!

Your participation ensures more than just a memorable journey — it’s a vital step towards discovering treatments to end ALS.

The Tri-State Trek is a fully supported two-day cycling event that stretches through Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. It’s designed to offer cyclists an unforgettable weekend of athleticism, camaraderie, and dedication to ending ALS.

ALS is not incurable, it’s underfunded. This is why we ride.

When you register for the Tri-State Trek, you commit to fundraising for our mission AND riding your bike. There are many flexible participation options for beginner cyclists, experienced athletes, and incredible volunteers.

The Tri-State Trek unites participants in the fight to end ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Through the Trek we fundraise, connect with our Trek Family, celebrate life, remember those we’ve lost, and advance research to find treatments and cures for ALS.

What is the Tri-State Trek?

Traditionally, the Tri-State Trek is a two-day, three-state bike ride that begins in Durham, NH and travels through New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. The Trek features a 200-mile ride with over 350 participants and has raised over $10 million for ALS research. At their own pace, riders cycle a tri-state marked course starting at the University of New Hampshire traveling through back roads and ocean side. Year after year, riders, crew, and volunteers return to visit their “Trek Family” and new faces share their stories and join the fight.

Who can participate in the Tri-State Trek?

Anyone and everyone! Whether you are an experienced cyclist signing up for the full ride or a fierce supporter signing up for Trek Your Way experience, anyone can participate! The best part about the Tri-State Trek is that it is a ride, not a race! While we recommend that all cyclists have experience biking, this is open to cyclists of all levels. We strongly advise using the ALS TDI training plan to build up the endurance needed to complete the ride. The Trek Your Way option allows you to create a challenge all your own making it the perfect way for family and friends to get involved that have not been able to participate in the Trek in the past.

How many people participate in the Tri-State Trek annually?

We expect to have around 350 participants annually. This includes 250 in person cyclist and 100 virtual participants.

What is the ALS Therapy Development Institute?

The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) is the world’s foremost drug discovery lab focused solely on ALS. As a nonprofit biotech we operate without regard to profit or politics. Led by drug development experts and people with ALS, our Watertown, Massachusetts-based lab is funded by a global network of supporters unified to end ALS. Our mission is to discover and develop effective treatments for ALS.
